Woodland, CA Trash & Recycling: Pickup Rules & Schedules (2026)

Woodland Municipal Code Section 13.08.020 makes it unlawful for any person to deposit, keep, or accumulate solid waste, recyclable materials, or organic waste on any lot, public or private place, street, lane, alley, or drive except as the chapter allows. Section 13.08.070(A) fills in that allowance: waste must sit in containers the City Sanitation Officer approves, kept closed or covered except when material is being added or removed, with the only carve-out being green waste piled at the curb under Section 13.08.150. Subsection (B) requires owners and occupants to keep those containers in a neat and sanitary condition, and subsection (C) requires containers to be made reasonably accessible outside any building, garage, or locked enclosure for pickup, with emptied containers returned upright, lids closed, and never left in a driveway.

Collection itself is limited to daytime hours: in residential areas and in commercial or industrial zones next to residential areas, crews may only collect between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The City operates the service itself or through a contract agent under Section 13.08.030, and only that agent, or the resident hauling his or her own waste under Section 13.08.040, may lawfully collect or transport it within the City; unauthorized collection by anyone else is a separate violation. The City Sanitation Officer enforces the chapter and has a right of entry onto premises to check compliance under Section 13.08.050(B).
