Woodland, CA Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Woodland Municipal Code Section 13.08.150 lets residents pile green waste, or place it in an organic waste container, at the curb for collection by the City or its contract agent, but bars hazardous waste, stumps, concrete, metal objects, soil, garbage, plastic plant containers, animal waste, and rocks from the container or the pile. Once a household has been issued an organic waste container, no green waste may go on any street, sidewalk, or right-of-way except during the designated leaf-drop season, which begins November 1 and ends January 31 unless the City designates otherwise, or during a monthly or spring collection period, or with prior arrangement with the City or its contract agent; lawn clippings may never be placed in the street, in any season.

During the leaf-drop window, piles including Christmas trees must sit immediately adjacent to and in front of the originating property and must not restrict gutter drainage or obstruct traffic. Every pile is capped at four feet wide by five feet long by four feet high. A violation triggers written notice from the City or its contract agent, and the violator has seven days from that notice to remove the material before the City issues a citation under Chapter 9.20, and the violator is billed directly for the City's cost of removing and disposing of the noncompliant pile.
