Plantation, FL Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Sec. 25-38 of the Plantation Code of Ordinances lists seventeen specific places where a person cannot stop, stand, or park a vehicle, except when necessary to avoid a traffic conflict or under a police officer's direction. The list bars parking on a sidewalk; in front of or blocking a public or private driveway; within an intersection or crosswalk; within twenty feet of a crosswalk at an intersection; within fifteen feet of a fire hydrant; within thirty feet of a flashing beacon, stop sign or traffic signal; within fifty feet of a bridge; within twenty feet of a fire station driveway (seventy-five feet on the opposite side); alongside a street excavation that would obstruct traffic; on the roadway side of another parked vehicle; on a bridge or in a street tunnel; anywhere official signs prohibit it; anywhere other than the right-hand side of the roadway; and on a bicycle path.

It also bars parking on an improved landscaped area not designated for parking, with carve-outs for residential zoning, houses of worship, city parks during special events, and holiday parades. Subsection (e) limits curb loading zone stops to thirty minutes unless otherwise posted, and subsection (g) adds signed no-parking zones in front of theaters, hotel or motel entrances, within one hundred feet of a school entrance, in front of buildings where the traffic engineer deems parking a safety hazard, and in fire lanes. The section was last amended by Ord. No. 2024-001 in January 2024 and traces to Ord. No. 1945.
