Laguna Niguel has no short-term rental parking requirements because STRs are prohibited in residential zones. No off-street or guest parking standard applies to a use the city does not allow.
STR-permitting cities often require on-site guest parking, but Laguna Niguel adopted no such standard because short-term rentals are banned. Under LNMC 9-1-32 Table 3.1 and 9-1-142 (Ordinance No. 2017-187, ZCA 16-01), renting a dwelling for less than 30 consecutive days in a residential district is a Prohibited Use, so there is no STR-specific requirement for driveway spaces, garage availability, or a cap on guest vehicles. Ordinary residential parking regulations still apply to homes generally โ including zoning parking standards and any restrictions on oversized vehicles and RVs โ but these are not STR rules and do not authorize short-term rental activity. A rental of 30 consecutive days or more is a standard tenancy under normal parking provisions.
There is no STR parking violation to cite because there is no lawful STR; the operation itself is the violation, enforced as a prohibited use and nuisance by Code Compliance. Standard street-parking rules are enforced independently. Call 949-362-4300 for details.
