Oldham County, KY Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Section 50.062 puts the county Coordinator in charge of establishing procedures for disposing of bulky waste, the category covering items too large for a standard cart, and guarantees residential generators bulky waste collection at least once weekly, with the specific schedule set through the collection contract between the governing body and the solid waste collector. Section 50.066 sets the physical rules for yard and green waste: loose grass clippings, weeds, plants, leaves and twigs must be tightly bagged before collection. Tree limbs under four inches in diameter, along with branches and brush, must be securely and safely bundled for curbside pickup, and those bundles cannot exceed 48 inches in length, 18 inches in diameter, or 50 pounds when placed at the collection point.

Larger material, tree stumps, logs and large limbs, does not qualify for curbside bulky pickup at all; § 50.066 requires it to be contained in dumpsters, chipped, or hauled directly to a disposal facility. Section 50.064 separately bars several bulky items from ever going in a regular solid waste container, including bulky waste itself, large appliances, furniture, construction and demolition debris, tires and dead animals weighing more than one pound, so those items must go through the dedicated bulky waste process under § 50.062 rather than the weekly cart.
