Oldham County, KY Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Under § 50.015, the Fiscal Court must coordinate universal collection of residential, commercial and institutional solid waste within the Solid Waste Management Area, chiefly by contracting with a permitted solid waste collector; state-owned facilities and industrial generators are excluded from that coordination duty. Collection is not automatically mandatory countywide: § 50.016 lets the governing body of a city or an HOA within the county adopt mandatory collection for its residents, while unincorporated areas outside such an adoption rely on voluntary subscription to the franchise hauler.

Landlords face a stricter standard: § 50.017 requires the owner of any residential rental property to provide collection service to tenants. On frequency, § 50.021(A) sets a floor of at least once a week for all residential solid waste, barring a force majeure event such as severe weather. Agricultural, commercial, institutional and industrial accounts are not locked into weekly service; § 50.021(B) lets them adjust to a more or less frequent schedule, including twice weekly, as needed for public health and safety. The exact day and time of pickup is not fixed in the ordinance itself; § 50.021(C) leaves those specifics to the franchise contract between the governing body and the collector.

Haulers operating in the county must hold an annual waste hauling permit from the county Coordinator and file a Form DEP 5033 each year under § 50.018.
