Oldham County, KY Trash & Recycling: Dumpster Rules (2026)

Section 50.020(C) treats temporary placement of roll-off boxes for specific projects as an acceptable collection practice, but only on private property; placement is not permitted on public roads or within public rights-of-way. Section 50.063 governs the high-volume waste these projects generate, covering construction, demolition, renovation, remodeling, home vacation or decluttering jobs. Any such project must keep its waste contained within a temporary dumpster for the duration of the work, and the dumpster must be removed from the property within 48 hours of exterior placement once the project is complete, so a roll-off cannot sit on a residential lot indefinitely.

Placement location still follows the general collection-point rule in § 50.019, which requires containers on private property to sit in areas accessible to collection vehicles rather than blocking the roadside. Because a roll-off box is a solid waste container under the chapter's definitions, it is also subject to the storage rule in § 50.061, which requires containers to be kept in a manner that prevents scavenging, illegal dumping and public nuisance. Property owners arranging a roll-off through the county's franchise contractor should confirm placement with the hauler in advance, since disputes over container placement are resolved by the Coordinator or the contractee under § 50.047(B).
