Oldham County, KY Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Oldham County Code § 50.066, adopted under Ordinance KOC 24-830-409 (passed 5-21-2024), sets the yard waste rules that apply outside La Grange, Crestwood, Pewee Valley and the other incorporated cities in the county. Loose material such as grass clippings, weeds, plants, leaves and twigs must go into tightly closed bags before being set out; it cannot be raked into a loose pile for pickup. Tree limbs under four inches in diameter, along with branches and brush, must be bundled securely enough to survive curbside handling, and the bundles are capped at 48 inches long, 18 inches in diameter and 50 pounds when they reach the collection point.

Anything bigger, tree stumps, full logs, or large limbs, does not qualify for curbside pickup at all; residents must contain it in a dumpster, have it chipped, or haul it directly to a disposal facility themselves. The Solid Waste program administers this alongside the county's regular collection contracts, and § 50.999 backs the chapter with a fine of not less than $25 nor more than $500 per violation, with each day a violation continues counted as a separate offense. Because § 50.999's exception covers only the landfill-siting provisions of §§ 50.110 et seq., the standard $25-$500 range applies to a yard waste violation.

Residents who exceed the bundle limits or set out unbagged clippings risk having the load left at the curb uncollected as well as a citation from an authorized enforcement officer.
