Moore, OK Trash & Recycling: Dumpster Rules (2026)

Section 17-208 of the Moore Code of Ordinances targets multi-unit buildings and mixed-use structures: any building or structure with three or more commercial, business, industrial or residential dwelling units, or any combination of those uses totaling three or more, that has a garbage collection contract with the city, must use garbage dumpsters that the city furnishes or that the city has approved. All garbage, refuse, rubbish or waste generated on the property must be placed inside that dumpster to be removed, rather than set out in individual polycarts or bags as a single-family home would under section 17-202.

This dovetails with section 17-204, which requires every vehicle used to collect, remove, transport or haul refuse, rubbish or garbage in the city, including the trucks servicing these dumpsters, to be built so material cannot fall or blow out in transit and to be kept clean and sanitary. Property owners who fail to use an approved dumpster, or who use a dumpster the city has not furnished or approved, are out of compliance with section 17-208 even if the property otherwise has an active city collection contract, because the requirement runs to the container itself and not merely to having a contract in place.
