The screening and any gate must stand one foot higher than the dumpster it hides, though the code caps enclosure height at eight feet regardless of dumpster size, and a metal gate is required wherever full screening depends on closing an opening.

The enclosure must sit behind the building and stay out of view from the public right-of-way, which pushes roll-off boxes and multi-yard containers to rear service areas rather than street-facing frontages. The same subsection requires electrical and gas meters to be screened or moved out of view from the public street, and calls for utility connections to run underground where the serving utility permits it, tying dumpster screening into a broader streetscape-appearance standard for the commercial zones.
