Ogden, UT Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Section 12-2-1, Administrative Provisions, gives the mayor the power to designate special cleanup days "in accordance with the provisions of section 7-2-2" of the code. On those designated dates, the public works department's operations division may collect large items that its automated cart system normally will not take, and the ordinance names tree limbs specifically, alongside appliances, mattresses and furniture. Outside a designated cleanup day, section 12-2-4 makes it unlawful to place any solid waste, including brush, in the street or parking strip except in an automated cart on a regular collection day, so loose yard debris cannot simply be piled at the curb whenever a homeowner wants.

For routine yard cleanup, Ogden instead points residents to a self-haul green waste facility, and the city's fee schedule in title 4, chapter 6 sets specific drop-off rates: compost at $15.00 per yard or $3.00 per bag, rock chips at $5.00 per yard, wood chips (fine and large) at $10.00 per yard, split firewood at $80.00 per cord or $3.00 per bundle, cut firewood at $60.00 per cord, mulch at $7.00 per yard, tailings at $5.00 per yard, plus a $10.00 uncovered-load fee for any load arriving without a tarp or cover. Automated garbage carts are furnished by the city under section 12-2-2 for regular refuse and recyclables, but that system is not the outlet for brush or bulky green waste.
