Pico Rivera restricts commercial and heavy trucks in residential areas: vehicles over 6,000 pounds may not be stored on residential lots or adjacent streets under the zoning code, and those rated 10,000 pounds or more are barred from certain residence-district streets.
Commercial vehicle parking is regulated through the off-street parking code and the truck weight-limit chapter. Off-street parking rule 18.44.050 makes it unlawful to store or park any commercial vehicle exceeding a gross weight of six thousand pounds on any lot in the city's residential and open-space zones, or on any street serving or adjacent to that zoned property. In addition, Chapter 10.56, Trucks and Weight Limits, prohibits parking commercial vehicles with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of ten thousand pounds or more on both sides of certain streets within areas classified as residence districts. Truck routes and through-truck weight limits are also set in Chapter 10.56. Lighter commercial vehicles remain subject to the general street-parking rules in Chapter 10.40.
Storing a commercial vehicle over six thousand pounds on a residential lot or adjacent street, or parking a truck rated ten thousand pounds or more on a posted residence-district street, is a violation subject to citation and enforcement.
