Flagstaff, AZ Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

City Code Section 8-03-003-0009(D) governs curb marking for approved valet parking stations. Once a fixed location valet parking permit is approved, the Office of the Traffic Engineer signs the valet station with a no-parking-except-for-valet sign specifying the hours and days of operation, and the City of Flagstaff itself paints the curb in that station with a color the Traffic Engineer approves. For a special event valet permit instead, the permittee provides its own portable no-parking-except-for-valet sign, approved by the Traffic Engineer's office, and that office decides when and where the portable sign is placed.

A valet station on a public street can only be at the City-approved location named in the permit and must cover a minimum of two adjacent parking spaces; vehicles cannot be accepted or returned while stopped in a traffic lane, and the operator must staff the station so waiting customers do not block through traffic. Vehicles parked illegally in a valet station during its approved hours are subject to fines and towing under City rules. The Police Department enforces the valet permit program, and the Community Development Director can promulgate additional rules and conditions for valet operations beyond the Code text itself, with noncompliance grounds for permit revocation.
