Yorba Linda, CA Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

Yorba Linda Municipal Code Section 10.12.100 flatly bars anyone, unless authorized by the City, from painting any street or curb surface, with a narrow carve-out for a person who has complied with City procedures for painting house numbers on a curb. That prohibition sits alongside Section 10.12.040, which authorizes the City Traffic Engineer to place official curb markings and defines what each color means: a red curb bars stopping, standing or parking at any time except as the state Vehicle Code allows, though a marked or signed bus stop may still permit a bus to stop; a yellow curb bars stopping, standing or parking between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on any day except Sundays and holidays for anything other than loading, capping passenger loading at three minutes and material loading at twenty minutes; and a white curb restricts stopping to passenger loading or unloading, or depositing mail, for no more than three minutes during the same 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. window, except that the restriction runs around the clock in front of a hotel or mailbox, and in front of a theater whenever it is open.

Section 10.28.020 reinforces the scheme by making it unlawful to stop, stand or park adjacent to a lawfully placed curb marking or sign in violation of the applicable restriction, and Sections 10.28.030 through 10.28.060 layer on separate green-curb time limits of twenty-four minutes, forty minutes, one hour and two hours during the same weekday daytime window. Because unauthorized curb painting has no dedicated fine in Chapter 10.12, a violation of Section 10.12.100 is punished under the citywide Section 1.12.010 general penalty.
