Yorba Linda, CA Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Section 10.28.100, titled Parking prohibited on arterial highways when, states flatly that no person who owns or has possession, custody or control of a vehicle shall park it, or permit it to be parked, on an arterial highway anywhere in the City between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. The prohibition is not tied to posted signage the way many of the neighboring curb-zone rules in Chapter 10.28 are; it applies citywide to the arterial road network by the text of the section itself. This sits alongside the chapter's separate 72-hour rule in Section 10.28.070, which bars leaving any vehicle parked on a street or alley for more than a consecutive 72-hour period regardless of time of day, and the chapter's general authority in Section 10.28.020 letting the City Traffic Engineer post additional restricted zones by sign or curb paint.

Residents on streets not classified as arterial highways are not reached by Section 10.28.100 itself, though local curb signage under other Chapter 10.28 sections can still restrict overnight parking on smaller residential streets where the City Traffic Engineer has posted it. The Orange County Sheriff's Department, which polices Yorba Linda under contract, enforces the overnight arterial ban along with the rest of Title 10's traffic and parking provisions.
