Municipal Code Chapter 10.52 bars commercial vehicles rated at 10,000 pounds or more gross vehicle weight from parking on residential-district streets except briefly for pickups, deliveries or permitted construction work.
Chapter 10.52 (Commercial Vehicle Parking) prohibits parking a commercial vehicle with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of ten thousand pounds or more on any street in a residential district of the City, with narrow exceptions. Such a vehicle may stop only for the time reasonably necessary to make pickups or deliveries of goods, wares or merchandise, or to deliver materials used in the repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of a building for which a building permit was previously obtained. The City's Vehicle Parking page reinforces that large commercial trucks and trailers may not be parked in any residential neighborhood except when actively loading or unloading. These limits apply on top of Chapter 10.28 curb and sign restrictions.
A commercial vehicle of 10,000 pounds GVWR or more parked on a residential street beyond the brief delivery or permitted-construction exception is subject to citation and towing under Chapter 10.52, enforced by the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
