Flood Elevation
In Albemarle County outside Charlottesville and Scottsville, homes in the Flood Hazard Overlay District's Zones A, A1-30, AE and AH must have the lowest floor, including any basement, built at or above the 'freeboard elevation,' defined as the base flood elevation plus one foot, under County Code § 18-30.3.15. Non-residential buildings may flood-proof to that same level instead of elevating.
