Agricultural Zoning Protection
Albemarle County's Rural Areas (RA) zoning district, covering most land in Albemarle County outside Charlottesville and Scottsville, exists under County Code § 18-10.1 to preserve agricultural and forestal land and limit residential sprawl. The ordinance directs that agricultural and forestal activities in the RA district be regulated only to the extent necessary to protect public health and safety.
