Lake Elsinore, CA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 10.12.130 sets a 24-consecutive-hour limit on street parking in residential districts for several categories of large vehicles. Subsection A covers any motor vehicle, trailer combination, or nonmotorized vehicle over 25 feet measured from its extreme forward to extreme rear point, including extensions, except for the recreational vehicles separately addressed in subsection E. Subsection B reaches any motor vehicle, including buses, trucks, trailers, semitrailers, trailer coaches or truck tractors, over 96 inches wide at its widest point excluding mirrors. Subsection C bars any commercial vehicle from parking more than 24 hours in a residential district, cross-referencing the definition at § 10.12.025; that cross-reference is now stale on its face because § 10.12.025 was repealed by Ordinance 1377 in 2017, and the operative commercial vehicle definition, covering trucks, trailers and semitrailers used to transport goods commercially and bearing a commercial plate, but excluding passenger vehicles and standard pickups, now lives at § 10.12.020.

Subsection D reaches detached nonmotorized equipment such as an unattached trailer, boat or watercraft trailer, or farm machinery. Subsection E sets a tighter length trigger for recreational vehicles, defined by cross-reference to California Health and Safety Code § 18010: an RV over 20 feet long, rather than the 25-foot threshold in subsection A, cannot be left on a residential street more than 24 hours. The City Manager or Police Chief may temporarily suspend these limits under § 10.12.150 for special circumstances.
